Maintenance Technician

 This position is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of our buildings and common areas as well as maintaining production equipment.

 Essential Functions: 

1. Surveys buildings and repair mechanical systems to ensure they are consistent with health and safety standards.
2. Performs maintenance of electrical systems, including but not limited to replacing light bulbs and sockets, clean and repair production machines.
3. Maintains heating and plumbing systems to ensure functionality.
4. Inspects alarm systems (fire, protection) and schedules repairs when needed.
5. Performs manual repairs when necessary such as fixing locks, fixing a sink, installing or fixing a light fixture etc.
6. Undertakes activities of pest control such as spraying insecticide.
7. Conducts general upkeep procedures, including but not limited to landscaping, painting, carpentry, vehicle maintenance etc.
8. Operates and maintains company vehicles and forklifts, WAVES, and general warehouse machinery.
9. Implements preventative maintenance measures. 

Additional Responsibilities: 

Perform additional duties as assigned by direct supervisor. 

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, & Capabilities: 

1. Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems.
2. Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods.
3. Working knowledge of tools and machines including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
4. Knowledge and experience in operating a variety of equipment, including snow blowers, plows, and small hand tools.
5. Effective written and oral communication skills.
6. Ability to work well with minimal supervision.
7. Ability to prioritize tasks and follow specified procedures.
8. Ability to use creativity in problem-solving.
9. Visual acuity to operate machines including lathes, drill presses, power saws and mills.
10. Must possess a valid driver’s license. 

Physical Requirements: 

1. Frequently lifting and/or moving objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
2. Occasionally pushing minimum of 100 lbs. such as equipment/machines/appliances.
3. Occasionally climbs up or down ladders.
4. Frequently bending at the waist, sitting, kneeling, laying horizontally, climbing, walking, as job may require.
5. Visual acuity is required. 

Work Environment: 

1. Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles.
2. Occasionally subject to temperatures below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour.
3. Lubricating fluids, cleaning solvents, batteries, paints and solvents, etc.
4. Noise level is usually moderate to high. 

Education: 

High School Diploma or Equivalent 

Experience: 

At least 1 years’ experience related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
