What are the responsibilities and job description for the PLM Systems Engineer (Hybrid Remote) position at TECHEAD?
Salary: $100,000 - 130,000/year
This position is 3 days per week remote / work from home.
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically sharp PLM Systems Engineer to own the deployment, optimization, and day-to-day management of our Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) platform. In this role, you will bridge the gap between design engineering, supply chain, and quality assurance. You will ensure our complex electronic products—from early schematic capture to mass production—are flawlessly documented, compliant with global environmental standards, and organized via rock-solid Bill of Materials (BOM) management.
Responsibilities
- Own the lifecycle configuration of multi-level electronics BOMs, ensuring seamless data flow from CAD/EDA tools into the PLM system.
- Manage component attributes, including Manufacturer Part Numbers (MPN), Internal Part Numbers (IPN), descriptions, and approved vendor lists (AVL/AML).
- Structure BOMs to account for variants, multi-board assemblies, firmware configurations, and packaging.
- Serve as the gatekeeper for engineering data, managing the Engineering Change Request (ECR) and Engineering Change Order (ECO) workflows.
- Facilitate cross-functional CCB (Change Control Board) meetings to review, assess risk, and approve product changes.
- Maintain absolute version and revision control over schematic designs, PCB layouts, Gerber files, firmware binaries, and test specifications.
- Track, aggregate, and report on component-level compliance data including RoHS, REACH, TSCA, and Conflict Minerals.
- Collaborate with component engineering to source and validate Full Material Declarations (FMDs) from suppliers.
- Monitor product compliance health within the PLM system to prevent production halts due to regional regulatory shifts.
- Administer, configure, and maintain our PLM environment such as Arena, Windchill, Agile, or Teamcenter.
- Map, automate, and continuously improve workflows to accelerate our Time-to-Market (TTM).
- Author standard operating procedures (SOPs) and conduct training sessions for incoming engineering and operations team members.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience: 3–5 years of hands-on experience working directly inside a PLM ecosystem within an electronics manufacturing or hardware environment.
- Tool Proficiency: Deep, administrator or super-user knowledge of cloud or on-premise PLM platforms such as PTC Windchill, Arena PLM, Oracle Agile, or Siemens Teamcenter.
- ECAD Familiarity: Fundamental understanding of how Electronic Design Automation (EDA) files flow into PLM systems; experience with Altium Designer, Cadence, or Fusion is highly preferred.
- Compliance Knowledge: Practical working knowledge of global electronics environmental compliance standards including RoHS, REACH, and WEEE.
