Job Purpose
This position is responsible for supporting research operations by providing high-quality animal care, husbandry, and vivarium operational support. The role ensures compliance with institutional and regulatory standards within a multi-building, multi-discipline research environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily animal husbandry for laboratory animals (primarily rodents, some USDA species)
- Perform clinical observations and monitor animal health and behavior
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of animal rooms, cages, and equipment
- Receive incoming animals and supplies and maintain proper records
- Perform animal transfers, relocations, and facility support tasks
- Support research teams by fulfilling animal care and operational requests
- Maintain accurate facility and animal records
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies and regulatory guidelines
- Follow SOPs, safety procedures, and animal welfare standards
- Assist with basic technical procedures on animals when required
- Maintain organized and clean vivarium work areas
- Work independently while supporting team operations

Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate degree preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in science, Biology, Animal Science, or related field preferred
- Veterinary Technology background is a plus
- ALAT certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
Experience Requirements
- 2–4 years experience working with animals
- Experience in vivarium, animal facility, or research environment preferred
- Experience with rodents or laboratory animals preferred
- Knowledge of animal husbandry practices
- Familiarity with SOPs and regulatory guidelines
- Experience maintaining records and documentation
