Summary: The main function of a lab technologist is to perform complex laboratory tests. A typical lab technologist usually reports to a biochemist or microbiologist.
Job Responsibilities:
? Analyze laboratory findings to check the accuracy of the results.
? Follows prescribed procedures, performing any tests within any of the laboratory specialties and calculating results of the tests performed if necessary.
? Recognize and correct basic analyzer malfunctions; notifying management personnel when appropriate
? Prepare reagents or media from a prescribed procedure
? Conduct established quality control procedures on analytical tests, equipment, reagents, media, and products
? Enter data from analysis of tests and results into computer for storage
Skills:
? Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and problem solving skills.
? Basic ability to work independently and manage one?s time.
? Basic knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (international quality standard for human clinical trials) and local regulations.? Basic ability to analyze data and accurately document and record results.
Education/Experience:
? Bachelor's degree in life sciences or related field preferred.
? 0-2 years experience required.
