A Prom Advisor is responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising the junior/senior prom in collaboration with the Junior Class. The role requires strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills, with a focus on creating a safe, memorable, and inclusive event while staying within budget and complying with school policies.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Event Planning & Coordination:
Work with students to select a prom theme, colors, and overall concept.
Coordinate with school administration, custodial staff, and vendors for venue, setup, and teardown.
Arrange and supervise setup, decoration, and clean-up; ensure adult supervision during all decorating activities.
Budget & Purchasing:
Prepare and maintain the prom budget; make purchases within approved limits.
- Track all expenses and provide financial reports to administration.
Fundraising:
Organize and oversee fundraising efforts.
Logistics & Safety:
Secure event space and manage logistics for the prom and promenade.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and district policies.
Student Leadership:
Guide students in decision-making, time management, and teamwork.
Establish and lead student committees for specific areas (e.g., decor, music, refreshments, announcements).
Public Relations:
Coordinate advertising and guest permissions.
Arrange prom chaperones and manage program details.
