TDC Specialty provides specialized insurance programs to healthcare providers, institutions, and organizations, primarily on an Excess & Surplus lines basis. More specifically, TDC Specialty offers professional, management and products liability insurance and services to hospitals, long term care facilities, non-hospital medical facilities, E&S physician groups, managed care organizations and life sciences companies. TDC Specialty is looking for a resourceful, driven Business Development Associate to help accelerate our growth. Responsibilities:
Working under the general supervision of the SVP, Business Development and acting within authority appropriate to this position, the Business Development Associate will be expected to bring energy, ownership, and follow-through to the following responsibilities:
- Cultivate new broker relationships while creatively uncovering opportunities with existing broker partners
- Build credibility with senior brokerage leaders through strong market knowledge, responsiveness, and consistent follow-through
- Develop deep knowledge of TDC Specialty’s business and underwriting strategies and translate that knowledge into a clear, compelling value proposition for brokers and insureds
- Represent TDC Specialty with confidence in broker and insured communities, strengthening our brand and market presence through every interaction
- Coordinate sales and marketing efforts with underwriters, taking initiative to lead targeted campaigns, broker events, and follow-up that create measurable traction
- Proactively work through challenges with brokers, finding practical paths forward while protecting relationships and momentum
- Contribute to a positive, high-accountability team culture that reflects TDC Specialty’s values and drives shared success
- Engage actively in industry events and conferences, seeking leadership opportunities that showcase TDC Specialty’s expertise and thought leadership
- Use technical expertise to develop and deliver insurance and product training for TDC Specialty employees and broker partners
- Support product research, development, and maintenance to help ensure TDC Specialty products are technically sound and responsive to market needs
- Provide technical advice and support on legal and claims-related matters when requested or appropriate to strengthen analysis and decision-making
- Partner with underwriters and underwriting segment leaders to ensure brokers have a highly satisfying experience with TDC Specialty

Requirements:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in insurance business development or a transferrable skill set with exposure to insurance brokerage, underwriting, and/or claims.
Proficiency with Excel and Word. As well as demonstrated aptitude with Windows based operating systems.
Acceptance of travel responsibilities which represent ~50% of time visiting TDC Specialty broker partners, attending industry events, and participating in internal meetings and development opportunities. Regional and national travel required.
