What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seamstress C position at TCOM, L.P.?
Sew, join, or reinforce a variety of materials. Be responsible for using an industrial sewing machine and other tools to fabricate/assemble production parts. Tasks will be performed under the direct guidance of higher classified seamstresses.
Working Procedure:
- Be self-motivated and able to work well with others as a team
- Be alert to your surroundings to ensure the safety of yourself, other personnel and the product
- Cut or trim fabric
- Position items under needles, using marks on machines, folders, clamps, templates, or other guides
- Place spools of thread, cord, or other materials on spindles, insert bobbins, and thread ends through machine guides and components
- Layout components in correct sequences prior to sewing them, and verify that the patterns match and align properly
- Guide material or parts under machine needles and presser feet to sew parts together
- Start and operate or tend machines, such as single needles or double needle to automatically join, reinforce, and assemble material as required
- Inspect and examine sewn parts to locate defects or damage, and mark errors as necessary
- Monitor machine operation to detect problems such as defective stitching, improper thread tension, breaks in thread, or machine malfunctions
- Maintain daily record keeping activities and real time data entry
- Select supplies such as fasteners and thread, according to job requirements
- Read work order and instructions
- Learn to read production drawings
Performing General Physical Activities — Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
- Load, unload, or stack materials or products
- Move or lift heavy objects
- Able to sit/stand for a standard shift
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education Requirement: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience Requirement: Prior sewing machine operating experience is required.
