Overview:
A growing real estate investment and development firm is seeking a Director of Property & Development Accounting to oversee financial reporting across a portfolio of residential and mixed-use assets along with active development projects. This role will lead property and development accounting functions, ensure accurate GAAP reporting, and partner closely with leadership, investors, and lenders on financial performance and reporting matters. The position offers strong visibility with senior leadership and the opportunity to play a key role as the platform continues to expand.
Responsibilities:
• Lead accounting and financial reporting for residential and mixed-use properties and development projects, ensuring accurate and timely reporting under U.S. GAAP.
• Review general ledger activity, financial statements, and accounting treatment for complex transactions and development-related activity.
• Oversee treasury functions including bank reconciliations, cash flow monitoring, and coordination of capital funding requests with lenders and investors.
• Ensure compliance with loan agreements, joint venture agreements, and other governing documents while maintaining strong internal controls.
• Manage the audit process and oversee preparations and review of audited financial statements and related disclosures.
• Oversee development and management fee calculations, invoicing, and proper financial recording.
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes while reconciling financial models with operating budgets as needed.
• Mentor and develop accounting staff while driving process improvements and system enhancements.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA preferred or in progress.
• 6 years of accounting experience, ideally within real estate, development, or public accounting.
• Experience supporting property accounting and development accounting activities.
• Prior leadership or supervisory experience.
• Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.
