What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tax Director position at LCS Forensic Accounting & Advisory?
About LCS
LCS Accounting & Advisory is a boutique CPA and advisory firm headquartered in Houston, TX, recognized for our expertise in transaction advisory and forensic accounting services. After much client demand, we’re expanding our capabilities and launching a Tax Practice—and we’re looking for an entrepreneurial Director of Tax Practice to help build and lead it from the ground up.
This is a founding leadership opportunity for a seasoned CPA with deep experience in corporate, partnership, and personal tax planning, compliance, and advisory. The role combines hands-on technical work with strategic leadership—designing the practice, managing client relationships, and helping to develop a high-performing team.
Your Role
As National Director of Tax, you’ll architect and lead a best-in-class tax practice — combining leadership, client strategy, and technical depth. You’ll work directly with the firm’s Managing Partner to design service lines, develop the team, and integrate tax advisory across our client portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Practice Leadership: Build and execute the vision for LCS’s Tax Practice, including strategy, structure, and service model.
- Business Development: Oversee business development for the tax practice, focusing on strategic growth through both new client acquisition and expansion of current relationships, in collaboration with firm partners who actively support cross-selling and client introductions.
- Client Advisory: Provide advanced tax compliance and planning services, including consulting on compliance and strategic planning for lower middle-market partnerships, corporations, and high-net-worth individuals.
- Compliance Oversight: Oversee all corporate tax filings and ensure technical accuracy, timeliness, and risk mitigation.
- Leadership & Mentorship: Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing team committed to excellence and client success.
- Innovation: Leverage technology and analytics to enhance client deliverables and practice efficiency.
What You Bring
- Active CPA license required; master’s in taxation or LLM preferred.
- 10 years of progressive experience in corporate tax planning and compliance within public accounting or boutique advisory.
- Expertise in federal, state, and local tax and M&A tax-related issues.
- Demonstrated success building or scaling a tax practice and leading complex client relationships across diverse industries.
- Exceptional client relationship, communication, and leadership skills.
- Entrepreneurial, strategic mindset with a hands-on approach to execution.
