Cost Accounting Manager

Position Summary

Our client is seeking a Cost Accounting Manager to lead inventory and cost accounting operations across multiple business units. This newly created role requires an experienced accountant with expertise in change management, cost optimization, and the ability to deliver actionable insights for decision-making.

Responsibilities:

• Manage cost accounting operations using standard and average costing systems
• Collaborate with inventory and operations teams to improve processes
• Own monthly cost roll-ups, variance analysis, and margin reporting
• Support integration of acquired entities and align accounting practices
• Develop and enhance financial reporting tools in Excel or business intelligence applications
• Identify inefficiencies and implement scalable accounting solutions
• Provide insights into COGS, manufacturing variances, and operational KPIs

Qualifications:

• At least 5 years in cost accounting, preferably standard cost (average cost is a plus)
• An accounting or finance degree is required; CPA or CMA is a major plus
• Power BI, advanced Excel, and prior ERP systems experience required (SyteLine preferred)
• Proven ability to partner with operations and finance teams
• Ownership mentality; experience building processes from scratch
• Manufacturing or supply chain background is preferred
