Taylor Hopkinson is seeking a Sales Engineer of Application Engineer for an international manufacture in power equipment solutions, specializing in transformers, switchgear, and complete substation systems. Serving renewable energy, utility, and the data center sectors the organization is committed to innovation and delivering high-value technical solutions to its clients.
This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working directly with customers, translating technical needs, and operating in a fast-paced, start-up environment.
Serve as the technical point of contact for customers, supporting sales activities across utilities, EPCs, developers, and Data Centers.
Review customer specifications, drawings, RFQs, and technical requirements to develop compliant solutions.
Prepare proposals, bid packages, equipment configurations, and cost estimates.
Collaborate with engineering, product, and sales teams to ensure solutions meet both technical and commercial needs.
Support customer presentations, site visits, and technical discussions.
Provide technical clarification and support during pre-award and post-award phases.
Deliver product application guidance and help identify opportunities to improve product-market fit.
Offer market, customer, and competitor insights to internal teams.
Represent the company at industry events, customer meetings, and trade shows.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline (preferred).
3-8 years of experience in application engineering, sales engineering, or technical support roles involving transformers, switchgear, substations, power equipment, or related electrical systems.
Strong technical understanding of power systems, grid infrastructure, and utility-scale renewable energy applications.
Ability to read, interpret, and respond to technical specifications and customer requirements.
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience preparing proposals, quotes, configurations, and detailed technical documentation.
Proven ability to manage multiple bids and customer requests simultaneously.
Ability to thrive in a start-up or high-growth environment, including:
