Taylor Hopkinson is seeking for Field Service Engineering Manager for an International manufacturer in power equipment solutions, specializing in mid to large transformers, switchgear, and complete substation systems. Serving renewable energy, utility, and data centers sectors, the organization is committed to innovation and delivering high-value technical solutions to its clients.
This candidate will support and expand field operations across the United States. This role will oversee field service activities related to transformers, switchgear, and substation equipment-including installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and warranty support.
This is a hands-on role in a high-growth environment. The selected candidate will begin as an individual contributor with the expectation of building, hiring, and leading a field service team as the business scales.
Provide technical leadership for all field service activities, including installation, commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of power equipment.
Act as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues in the field.
Develop field service procedures, safety protocols, and best practices as the service organization grows.
Support customers with pre-installation planning, onsite execution, and post-installation follow-up.
Prepare and review service reports, test documentation, and commissioning records.
Coordinate scheduling, site planning, and logistics for field service assignments.
Collaborate with engineering, product, QA, supply chain, and commercial teams to resolve field issues and improve product performance.
Provide technical training and guidance to internal teams, customers, and channel partners.
Track recurring field issues, support root-cause analysis, and contribute to product improvement initiatives.
Represent the company during customer site visits, audits, and technical meetings.
As the business grows, build and lead a field service team-including hiring, onboarding, and managing Field Service Engineers and contractors.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline (preferred).
5-10 years of experience in field service roles involving transformers, switchgear, substation equipment, or power systems.
Strong hands-on experience with installation, commissioning, FAT/SAT testing, and troubleshooting electrical equipment.
Solid understanding of protection schemes, HV/MV equipment, and power system operations.
Ability to interpret single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, technical drawings, and test reports.
Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
Experience in a start-up or high-growth environment, including:
