Mill Cut-Off Operator

POSITION TITLE: Mill Cutoff Operator 
DEPARTMENT: Tarter Tube
REPORTS TO: Mill Operator
STATUS: Full-Time, Hourly 

POSITION OVERVIEW: 

The Mill Cutoff Operator is responsible for measuring tubing to ensure length accuracy and managing the bundling process at the end of the tube mill. This role supports mill operations by assisting banders, tagging bundles, and ensuring that packaged materials meet quality and safety standards. 

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Duties include, but are not limited to: 

• Inspect tube quality and report concerns to the Mill Operator for corrective action
• Measure tubes foraccuratelength and ensure proper cuts
• Tag bundles with complete andaccuratebundle information
• Assistin mill changeovers and equipment adjustments
• Operate notching machine as needed
• Lift and handle materials up to 75 pounds
• Assistbanders and help organize tubes intoappropriate bundles
• Operate forklift occasionally to support workflow
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Follow all safety protocols and company procedures

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Ability to read and write clearly
• Comfortable working with basic system computer software
• Ability to read calipers and micrometers accurately
• Good attention to detail andstrong communicationskills
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

• Exposure to wet, greasy, and noisy conditions
• Must wear PPE (gloves, safety glasses, etc.)at all times
• Risk of cuts or injury if proper attention and safety practices are not followed
• Frequent standing, bending, lifting, and moving of materials
