What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Provider position at Tappe & Sanchez Support Services?
Searching for energetic individuals to work with children who receive services from the Intellectual Disability Waiver (IDW). You will work with them to build life skills through Supported Community Living (SCL) services. Great opportunity for someone who needs extra income after their full time job, or students who would like experience in the social work field.
**This position requires you to be available after school hours (4:00pm-8:00pm) at least 4 days per week.
Duties:
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Teach life skills such as anger management, social skills, communication skills, cooking, budgeting, etc.
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and minimize challenging behaviors
- Support individuals in participating in social and recreational activities
- Document and maintain accurate records of care provided
- Independently maintain a weekly schedule with clients
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a similar role preferred
- Ability to lift and assist individuals with mobility limitations, if needed
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Valid driver's license and car insurance
- Have a reliable form of communication/phone, and access to a personal computer for documentation
- Must be able to pass criminal background and DHS Abuse Registries.
As it is an independent contractor position, no benefits are offered. Travel to and from client's homes in East Des Moines (Altoona), and the surrounding community is required.
Pay: $18.00 per hour
