Direct Support Provider

Job Overview
Searching for energetic individuals to work with children who receive services from the Intellectual Disability Waiver (IDW). You will work with them to build life skills while out in the community and in their homes by providing Supported Community Living (SCL). Great opportunity for someone who has a full time job looking to make some extra money, or students who would like experience in the social work field.

*We are currently looking for someone to provide services to 3 children living in Indianola. Hours would be 2 hours per evening after school (between 4:00-8:00pm), a minimum of 3 days(6 hours) per week.

Duties:

- Provide direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities or a mental health diagnosis.

- Teach life skills such as independent living, social skills, communication skills.

- Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and minimize challenging behaviors

- Support individuals in participating in social and recreational activities

- Document and maintain accurate records of care provided

- Independently maintain a weekly schedule with clients

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent

- Previous experience in a similar role preferred

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

- Valid driver's license and car insurance

- Have reliable form of communication/phone, and access to a personal computer for documentation

- Must be able to pass criminal background and DHS Abuse Registries.

- Must feel comfortable working with individuals who can't communicate verbally, have incontinece, and medical conditions that need to be monitored.

As it is an independent contractor position, no benefits are offered. Travel to and from client's homes in Indianola, and around the community is required.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $18.00 per hour
