Job description:
Searching for an energetic individual to work with adults and children who receive services from the Intellectual Disability Waiver (IDW). You will work with them to build life skills while out in the community and in their homes by providing Supported Community Living (SCL). Great opportunity for students who would like experience in the social work field, or someone who would like to work a flexible schedule!
*We are currently looking for someone to provide services to 2 adults and 3 children living in Indianola. Hours would be 2 hours per evening after school (between 4:00-8:00pm), 4 evenings per week, and 3-4 hours during the daytime (Mornings or Early afternoons), 3 days per week.
Duties:
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities or a mental health diagnosis.
- Teach life skills such as independent living, social skills, communication skills.
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and minimize challenging behaviors
- Support individuals in participating in social and recreational activities
- Document and maintain accurate records of care provided
- Independently maintain a weekly schedule with clients
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a similar role preferred
- Abilty to be creative and independently develop a curriculum or engage in activities that meet the client's individualized goals
- Strong, clear communication and interpersonal skills
- Valid driver's license and car insurance
- Have reliable form of communication/phone, and access to a personal computer for documentation
- Must be able to pass criminal background and DHS Abuse Registries.
- Must feel comfortable working with individuals who can't communicate verbally, have incontinece, and medical conditions that need to be monitored.
As it is an independent contractor position, no benefits are offered. Travel to and from client's homes in Indianola, and around the community is required.
Pay: $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15.0 – 20.0 per week
