What are the responsibilities and job description for the BHIS Provider position at Tappe & Sanchez Support Services?
Overview:
Searching for an energetic individual to work with children providing Behavioral Health Intervention Services. This is a skilled position, where you would be teaching skills in areas such as social, independent living, managing mental health symptoms, and coping skills. Working in the client's homes directly with their guardian/ family members to improve parenting skills and family relationships is also required. Great opportunity for someone who has a full time job looking to make some extra money, or Masters students who would like experience in the social work field.
Candidates mush have a Bachelors degree in the Social Sciences field, or a Bachelors degree along with at least 2 years experience in a job related to social sciences. Candidates must be available at least 2 evenings/ week (between 4:00-7:00pm) and/ or weekends (up to 4 hours/ day Saturday and Sunday). This position would be working directly with 3 siblings in the Knoxville, IA area. Driving to and from the family's home in Knoxville, IA is required. A minimum of 4 hours per week is required.
Duties:
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities or a mental health diagnosis.
- Teach life skills such as anger management, social skills, communication skills. Ability to independently develop a curriculum or set up activities that directly relate to the client's individual goals.
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and minimize challenging behaviors
- Provide support and parenting skills to caregivers.
- Document and maintain accurate records of care provided
- Independently maintain a weekly schedule with clients
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in a Social Sciences field or Bachelors degree in a non-Social Sciences field and at least 2 years experience in a job related to social services.
- Previous experience in a similar role preferred
- Knowledge of mental health diagnosis and trauma informed care preferred
- Strong, clear communication and interpersonal skills
- Valid driver's license, car insurance, and dependable vehicle to get to and from appointments.
- Have a reliable form of communication/phone, and access to a personal computer for documentation
- Must be able to pass criminal background and DHS Abuse Registries.
As it is an independent contractor position, no benefits are offered.
Pay: $35.00 - $50.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 4.0 per week
