At Community Care of Iowa (CCOI), we are a dedicated and compassionate community living services provider. Our mission is to empower individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live meaningful, independent lives. Our Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) play a crucial role in creating a positive impact on the lives of our clients and their families.
Breaking Stigmas Together:
We believe that individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities deserve respect, inclusion, and opportunities. Unfortunately, stigmas and misconceptions can create barriers to their success. As a DSP with CCOI, you’ll help challenge these stereotypes by celebrating each client’s unique strengths, abilities, and potential. Together, we’ll create an environment of acceptance and empowerment, proving that everyone has something valuable to contribute to our community.
Why Join Our Team?
- Experience the fulfillment of making a meaningful difference in the lives of our clients.

- Enjoy flexible schedules that fit your lifestyle.
What You’ll Do:
As a DSP, you’ll work directly with clients to provide care, guidance, and support in achieving their personal goals. Responsibilities include:
- Assisting clients with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks.
- Supporting clients in developing life skills and fostering independence.
- Facilitating community involvement by accompanying clients to appointments, activities, and social events.
- Monitoring and documenting client progress and ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Foster a positive environment that encourages independence, dignity, and respect for all individuals.
- Provide support in medication administration as per prescribed guidelines.
What We’re Looking For:

- Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others achieve their goals.
- Ability and willingness to learn new skills and complete comprehensive training.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to pass background checks and meet state and company requirements.

What We Offer:
- Competitive pay: Starting at $18 per hour based on experience.
- Paid training and ongoing development.
- Wellness package including options for health, dental, and vision insurance.

Hear From Our Staff:
"What I like most about working at community care of Iowa is that most days it does not even feel like work I get to come in and spend time hanging out with amazing clients with great personalities. What gives me the greatest sense of fulfillment is when I am able to come in and bring a smile to someone's face and just being able to be a listening ear to someone who is having a tough time. I choose to do this work because I love being able to make a positive impact on someone's life."
