Position Summary
Tampa Family Health Centers is seeking a Dental Assistant (EFDA) to support our dental care team. This role provides chairside assistance, supports clinical and administrative functions, and helps ensure a positive and efficient patient experience across multiple locations.
The Dental Assistant works closely with dentists, hygienists, and leadership to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with TFHC policies and Florida regulations.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist dentists and hygienists with chairside procedures in a general dental setting
- Prepare operatory rooms, instruments, and materials for procedures
- Sterilize instruments and maintain equipment and clinical areas
- Support front office functions, including scheduling and patient intake
- Submit pre-authorizations and maintain accurate patient records
- Coordinate with dental labs for case pickups and deliveries
- Monitor inventory and assist with ordering supplies
- Communicate effectively with patients and team members to support care compliance
- Travel to various TFHC locations and support the mobile dental unit as needed
- Assist with additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Graduate of an accredited Dental Assistant program
- Florida Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) certification required
- Dental Radiology certification required
- Current CPR certification required
- Open to new graduates with completed in-person externship

Please note that employee's initial training schedule may differ from the regular schedule of the position. All new hires, including part-time employees, must be available for up to 40 hours of in-person, on-site training during their first week. Additional Mandatory training may continue for approximately two to three weeks, depending on the position and training requirements. Training may take place at a TFHC location other than the employees assigned work location.
