Position Summary:
The Senior Director of Loan Operations leads the Underwriting, Loan Processing, Data Entry, and Closing functions and is accountable for the end-to-end performance of the loan origination operation. This leader ensures monthly funding goals are met, loans move efficiently from application through funding, and every file meets autoMHatic’s standards for service, quality, and regulatory compliance. The Senior Director partners across the organization to drive scalable, repeatable processes that support continued growth in the manufactured-housing lending market.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Management
• Lead and develop a multi-tier organization of supervisors, team leads, and individual contributors across Underwriting, Processing, Data Entry, and Closing.
• Coach, mentor, and hold staff accountable to clearly defined production, quality, and behavioral expectations.
• Build career paths and succession plans that retain top performers and develop future leaders.
Production and Pipeline Management
• Own monthly, quarterly, and annual loan origination targets and report performance to senior leadership.
• Oversee the loan pipeline from submission through funding, ensuring service-level agreements and turn time targets are consistently met.
• Identify bottlenecks, reallocate resources, and adjust staffing models to keep pipeline velocity aligned with volume.
Quality, Compliance, and Risk
• Monitor file quality, documentation accuracy, and funding readiness across all stages of the loan lifecycle.
• Ensure all origination activity adheres to federal and state lending regulations, investor guidelines, and internal policies.
• Partner with Compliance and Quality Control to remediate findings and prevent repeat issues.
Process Improvement and Reporting
• Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and reporting enhancements that increase capacity without sacrificing quality.
• Establish and maintain dashboards and KPIs that give the COO and executive team real-time visibility into operations performance.
Training and Development
• Build onboarding programs for new hires and continuing-education curriculum for tenured staff.
• Sponsor cross-training initiatives that increase team flexibility during volume swings.
Cross-Functional Partnership
• Partner closely with Sales, Compliance, IT, Finance, HR, and Senior Leadership to align operations capacity with company strategy.
• Represent Loan Operations in vendor and investor discussions as needed.

Qualifications:Required Qualifications:
• 7 years of progressive experience in mortgage, consumer lending, banking, or financial operations.
• 5 years of leadership experience directly managing underwriting, processing, closing, or related operations teams, including managing through other managers.
• Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding production, quality, and turn-time targets.
• Strong working knowledge of loan operations workflows, loan origination systems, and the regulatory environment governing consumer lending (TILA, RESPA, ECOA, HMDA, and applicable state-specific requirements).
• Proven ability to coach, develop, and retain talent across multiple functions and experience levels.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into operational decisions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present to executive leadership and cross-functional partners.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and one or more loan origination systems (Encompass, ICE Mortgage, or equivalent).
Preferred Qualifications:
• Manufactured-housing or chattel-lending experience.
• Experience implementing process automation, workflow tools, or LOS configuration changes.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
• Prior experience scaling an origination operation through significant volume growth or system conversion.
