Description
Ensures that the patient information is collected, and the patients are aware of hospital policies and procedures. Interviews incoming patient or representatives and enters information required for admission into computer database. Distributes appropriate information to ancillary departments.
- Performs admission functions for all patient types.
- Responsible for admissions, outpatient procedures, and obtaining and verifying insurance eligibility.
- Responsible for obtaining personnel information or verifying information already on file, including emergency numbers and insurance information.
- Responsible for obtaining signatures on conditions of admission.
- Provides patients information about billing, complaint process, patient rights, HIPAA and visiting hours.
- Answers the telephone in a polite manner and communicates information to the appropriate personnel or family member.
Requirements
- Able to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Thorough understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, HMO’s, PPO’s, and private insurance companies.
- Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills.
