About the Role
The Clinical Molecular Technologist is responsible for performing high-complexity molecular diagnostic testing within a CLIA-certified and CAP-accredited laboratory environment. This role places strong emphasis on hands-on next generation sequencing (NGS), nucleic acid extraction, library preparation, and strict adherence to regulatory standards.
The ideal candidate has direct NGS assay experience, holds an ASCP (MB) certification, and has worked in a CLIA/CAP-regulated molecular diagnostics laboratory. Experience obtaining or holding a Florida clinical laboratory license is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform high-complexity molecular diagnostic testing in compliance with CLIA, CAP, and state regulatory standards.
- Extract nucleic acids from human tissue, blood, bone marrow, and other specimen types.
- Construct DNA libraries and perform next generation sequencing workflows.
- Operate and maintain NGS instrumentation and associated laboratory equipment.
- Review and interpret quality control metrics and sequencing run data.
- Accession and document cases within a Laboratory Information Management System.
- Maintain detailed documentation to meet CLIA and CAP audit requirements.
- Monitor instrument performance and complete routine calibration, logging, and maintenance.
- Identify trends, shifts, and abnormal results in patient and control samples and initiate corrective action.
- Participate in assay validation, verification, and process improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to SOP development and continuous quality improvement efforts.
- Train and mentor junior technologists on laboratory procedures and compliance standards.
- Support inventory management and laboratory supply coordination.
- Adhere to all environmental health and safety requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Molecular Biology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a clinical molecular diagnostics laboratory.
- Direct hands-on experience performing NGS assays required.
- ASCP Molecular Biology (MB) certification required.
- Experience working in a CLIA- and CAP-regulated laboratory environment required.
- Working knowledge of molecular laboratory instrumentation, LIMS systems, and quality systems.
- Strong understanding of laboratory regulatory compliance and documentation standards.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Ability to work onsite in Orlando, FL and maintain flexible scheduling as needed.
Desired Qualifications

Salary : $70,000 - $100,000
