Title: Application Engineer Mechanical (Full-time)
Magnolia, TX - Onsite
Job Summary:
- Strategic Mission: Serve as the technical architect for the sustainable power revolution in the Americas, deploying next-gen Tier 4 Final and Hybrid systems.
- Product Evolution:Drive the continuous improvement of engine and genset platforms by feeding field performance data and development insights back to global R&D teams.
- The "Bridge" Role: Act as the critical technical and cultural link between US commercial teams and India-based Engineering/Manufacturing Centers of Excellence.
- Total Ownership: Own the entire project lifecycle—from technical scoping and solution design to delivery, installation, and final commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Authority: Serve as the regional expert for Kirloskar Gensets, ensuring compliance with US/LATAM standards (EPA Tier 4 Final, UL, NFPA, IBC Seismic).
- Engine & System Troubleshooting: Lead deep-dive root-cause analysis (RCA) for complex engine performance issues and genset failures. Act as the final escalation point for technical challenges involving combustion, fueling, and governor dynamics.
- R&D Feedback Loop:Partner with India-based development teams to provide "Voice of the Customer" input for new engine development, including duty cycle analysis, transient response requirements, and Tier 4 Final optimization.
- Solution Design: Lead the design of power solutions for the full spectrum of Data Centers (Hyperscale, Colo, Enterprise). Translate load requirements into engineering specifications.
- BESS & EMS Orchestration: Size and integrate Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and manage Energy Management Systems (EMS).
- Acoustic & Sound Mitigation: Support the design/delivery of sound-attenuated enclosures (Level 1–3) to meet strict local noise ordinances.
- Commissioning & Training: Lead Level 1–5 Commissioning (FAT/SAT/IST). Provide advanced technical training focusing on engine diagnostics and system optimization.
Skills & Technical Mastery
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: 10 years in Power Gen; proven track record in Engine Development/Testing (test cell experience preferred) and complex troubleshooting.
- Technical Mastery:Deep expertise in engine combustion, fuel systems (Common Rail), turbocharger matching, and ECU calibration.
- Controls Expertise: Deep understanding of engine-to-genset communication (CANbus, J1939), alternators, switchgear, ATS, and control systems (Deep Sea, Woodward, E-controls).
- Tools & Software: Proficiency in CAD, Project Management software, and engine diagnostic/calibration tools.
- Regulatory: Mastery of NEC, NFPA 110/855, and UL 2200/9540.
