Responsibilities:
- Lead the assessment, diagnosis, and management of veterinary oncology cases, guiding treatment from initial consult through follow-up.
- Provide compassionate client communication, clearly explaining diagnoses, treatment options, and prognoses to pet owners.
- Collaborate closely with a team of board-certified specialists across surgery, cardiology, internal medicine, and rehabilitation to deliver comprehensive patient care.
- Utilize advanced diagnostic equipment and modern treatment protocols, including chemotherapy and targeted therapies.
- Participate in hospital rounds, case consultations, and mentorship of other veterinarians and technical teams.
- Support a strong culture of interdisciplinary partnership, contributing to an excellent work environment and patient outcomes.
- Comply with all licensure, safety, and clinical documentation standards required in New York state.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education to maintain specialty board certification and uphold the highest standards of care.
Must-Have Skills:
- Active veterinarian license or eligibility to practice veterinary medicine in New York.
- Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (DACVIM) in Oncology, or residency-trained in veterinary oncology.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with veterinary specialists and support teams.
- Ability to deliver empathetic, client-focused care and guide pet owners through complex medical decisions.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience practicing in a multi-specialty, referral, or specialty/teaching hospital environment.
- Familiarity with modern imaging techniques (such as CT, MRI, and ultrasound) as part of cancer diagnostics.
