What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Product & Supplier Quality Engineer position at Talently?
We’re partnering with a design-led consumer hardware company that develops and ships products across DTC, retail, and global distribution channels. They’re hiring a Senior Product Quality Engineer to own product quality across the full product lifecycle and serve as a key partner to engineering, operations, and global manufacturing teams.
This is a highly cross-functional, hands-on role where you’ll be responsible for how product quality is defined, measured, and improved in-market. You’ll analyze product performance, returns, and failure trends, drive root cause investigations, and work directly with overseas manufacturers to resolve issues and implement long-term improvements.
This is a full-time, permanent position onsite Monday-Thursday in Brooklyn, NY (Dumbo), with Fridays remote. If you are not local, relocation assistance may be available.
Responsibilities:
• Own product quality across the lifecycle, including in-market performance, returns, failure analysis, and corrective actions
• Analyze product performance data, customer feedback, and field issues to identify trends and drive improvements
• Partner cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and manufacturing teams to resolve product issues and improve reliability
• Work directly with overseas manufacturers and suppliers to drive supplier quality improvements and corrective actions
• Lead supplier quality initiatives including audits, performance tracking, issue resolution, and continuous improvement
• Drive root cause analysis, failure investigations, and hands-on product teardowns
• Support reliability, validation, and lifecycle testing programs
• Own and improve quality systems, reporting, and processes that help drive better product and manufacturing decisions
• Participate in risk management activities including FMEA and related quality documentation
• Support regulatory/compliance conversations and documentation as needed in partnership with internal teams
Must-Have Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
• 8 years of experience working in new product development with Asian suppliers and
contract manufacturers with a focus on high-volume electronic consumer products
• 4 years of experience working in quality engineering or quality systems management
• Strong experience owning in-market product quality, including returns, field failures, defect trends, and corrective actions
• Hands-on experience working directly with Asia-based manufacturers / contract manufacturers in high-volume production environments
• Experience with injection molded components and consumer product manufacturing processes
• Strong background in root cause analysis, failure analysis, and supplier quality management
• Experience with electromechanical consumer products
• Familiarity with regulatory/compliance processes (UL, CE, ISO, FDA, etc.) through partnership or support, not necessarily direct ownership
• Strong data orientation with ability to analyze quality trends and translate insights into action
• Comfortable communicating quality risks and recommendations cross-functionally
Nice to Have Skills:
• Experience with PCBA, motors, or electromechanical systems
• Experience with IPX-rated or moisture-sensitive products
• SolidWorks or CAD familiarity
• Startup or smaller-company experience

Salary : $150,000 - $165,000
