Responsibilities:
- Lead by example in delivering best-in-class medical and surgical care for small animal patients.
- Oversee preventive care, diagnostic workups, and chronic disease management for dogs, cats, and exotics.
- Perform general soft tissue surgeries (spay/neuter, mass removals, foreign body procedures).
- Provide dental procedures including extractions and radiographic-supported dental care.
- Mentor, train, and develop veterinarians and clinical support staff, fostering a positive hospital culture.
- Support hospital operations and implementation of clinical protocols to optimize practice workflow.
- Promote and uphold Fear Free practices in a compassionate, client-centered environment.
- Collaborate with leadership on strategic initiatives and participate in ongoing continuing education.
Must-Have Skills:
- DVM or VMD degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary program.
- Licensed or eligible for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Maryland.
- Minimum 3 years of small animal clinical experience.
- Proven proficiency in general soft tissue and dental procedures.
- Strong commitment to mentorship, collaboration, and delivering gold-standard patient care.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Prior leadership or mentoring experience in a veterinary setting.
- Experience with exotic animal medicine.
- Familiarity with AAHA standards and Fear Free® certified practices.
- Interest in clinical protocol development and hospital operations.
- Background participating in continuing education, wet labs, or advanced diagnostics (ultrasound, endoscopy).
