As a Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you will play a pivotal role driving continuous improvement, ensuring reliability, and championing operational efficiency in a fast-paced environment at a top U.S. manufacturing hub.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all plant engineering functions, setting priorities aligned with organizational and operational goals.
- Develop and implement engineering strategies, policies, and procedures to support manufacturing excellence and efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, cost reduction, and system reliability across facilities.
- Oversee plant facility and electrical power infrastructure, ensuring compliance, capacity planning, and optimal operation of utility systems.
- Lead automation initiatives including process controls, mixer systems, and integration of advanced manufacturing technologies.
- Manage capital projects such as equipment installations, facility upgrades, and production expansions, ensuring successful project delivery within budget and timelines.
- Oversee engineering-related data management systems, including ERP, reporting, and AS400 integration.
- Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, IT, and Logistics to optimize material flow, throughput, and system efficiency.
- Supervise and mentor an engineering team, fostering talent development and cross-functional collaboration.
Must-Have Skills:
- Minimum 5 years of managerial experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally plastics or related industries.
- Expertise in plant engineering systems, utilities, automation, and production equipment operations.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, controls, and industrial infrastructure.
- Experience leading capital projects, equipment implementations, and facility expansions.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (AS400 preferred), data integration, and manufacturing technologies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline (Master’s preferred).
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and deliver complex engineering projects efficiently.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification.
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification.
- Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE).
- OSHA 30 Certification.
- Experience with automation systems, PLCs, and plant-level controls.
- Advanced proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and reporting tools.
- Background supervising large engineering teams in a collaborative manufacturing environment.
