The Company
Our client is a globally recognized, full-service controls integration firm serving the district energy, life sciences, and mission critical markets. They were just named 2026 System Integrator of the Year by Control Engineering and Plant Engineering — one of the most respected recognitions in the industry. With $200M in revenue and nearly three decades of steady growth, this is a company with real stability and a strong culture built around employee success.
The Role
This is a people-first leadership position managing a team of traveling controls technicians deployed across customer sites nationwide. You won't be tied to a desk — you'll be the operational backbone behind a high-performing field team, keeping people on schedule, on budget, and taken care of.
If you've managed a dispersed maintenance crew or remote field workforce and know how to lead people you don't see every day, this role was built for you.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead, develop, and retain a team of traveling field controls technicians
- Manage scheduling, workload, and deployment across multiple customer sites
- Serve as the primary escalation point for field execution issues
- Monitor project progress, site schedules, and budget adherence
- Identify staffing needs and play an active role in hiring and onboarding
- Build a positive team culture despite the challenges of a remote, travel-heavy workforce
- Collaborate with project managers and internal teams to ensure smooth site delivery
What We're Looking For
- 10 years of experience in field service, maintenance management, or operations leadership
- Proven track record managing remote, dispersed, or traveling teams
- Background in controls, building automation, HVAC controls, or a related technical field preferred — but not required if your people management skills are strong
- Manufacturing maintenance management experience is a strong transferable fit
- Comfortable with travel yourself — roughly 1–2 weeks per month, especially in year one
- Strong communicator who knows how to manage up, manage down, and keep people engaged from a distance
- BS in Engineering, Operations, or related field preferred; relevant experience considered in lieu of degree
Salary : $150,000 - $170,000
