Responsibilities:

• Prepare and submit medical claims to insurance companies, following up throughout the billing cycle to resolution.
• Learn and utilize billing software efficiently, adhering to established process flows and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Conduct productive calls to insurance plans and facilities to gather information and verify claims or appeal status.
• Accurately record all pertinent information in patient files and documentation systems.
• Submit claims and appeals on behalf of patients, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines.
• Address and resolve patient billing inquiries and concerns in a professional manner.
• Collaborate closely with Client Services, the Billing Team, and other internal departments to address billing issues.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support effective billing operations.

Must-Have Skills:

• Minimum of 1 year of medical billing experience, with strong knowledge of claims processing, denials, and appeals.
• High School Diploma required.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, both over the phone and in-person.
• Excellent organizational and attention-to-detail abilities.
• Demonstrated proficiency in billing software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to handle confidential financial and personal information with discretion.
• Basic computational and math skills.
• Adaptable and able to respond quickly to emerging situations with a sense of urgency.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Associate’s or undergraduate degree preferred.
• 1-3 years of medical or laboratory experience.
• Bilingual communication skills are a plus.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g., CLIA, CAP, NYS CLEP, ISO 13485) in a laboratory reimbursement environment.
• Experience collaborating with multiple internal departments or client-facing service teams.
