Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit medical claims to insurance companies, following up throughout the billing cycle to resolution.
- Learn and utilize billing software efficiently, adhering to established process flows and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Conduct productive calls to insurance plans and facilities to gather information and verify claims or appeal status.
- Accurately record all pertinent information in patient files and documentation systems.
- Submit claims and appeals on behalf of patients, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines.
- Address and resolve patient billing inquiries and concerns in a professional manner.
- Collaborate closely with Client Services, the Billing Team, and other internal departments to address billing issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support effective billing operations.
Must-Have Skills:
- Minimum of 1 year of medical billing experience, with strong knowledge of claims processing, denials, and appeals.
- High School Diploma required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, both over the phone and in-person.
- Excellent organizational and attention-to-detail abilities.
- Demonstrated proficiency in billing software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to handle confidential financial and personal information with discretion.
- Basic computational and math skills.
- Adaptable and able to respond quickly to emerging situations with a sense of urgency.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Associate’s or undergraduate degree preferred.
- 1-3 years of medical or laboratory experience.
- Bilingual communication skills are a plus.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g., CLIA, CAP, NYS CLEP, ISO 13485) in a laboratory reimbursement environment.
- Experience collaborating with multiple internal departments or client-facing service teams.
Salary : $40,000 - $60,000
