Job Title: Employment Counsel
Location: Hybrid - Atlanta
Salary: $190,000-$220,000
The Opportunity
We are an established, growing manufacturing company seeking an experienced employment attorney to join our in-house legal team. This attorney will work closely with HR and business leadership across a multi-state organization, providing practical advice on a broad range of workplace matters. This is a hands-on role with significant interaction across the business and an opportunity to advise on both day-to-day employment matters and broader workforce initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day employment law counsel to HR and business leaders across a multi-state workforce.
- Advise on employee relations matters, including performance issues, leaves and accommodations, investigations, and terminations.
- Guide the business on wage and hour, hiring practices, workforce compliance, and other federal and state employment requirements.
- Draft and review employment policies, agreements, and other workplace-related documents.
- Advise on employment claims and disputes and help develop strategies to minimize legal and business risk.
- Partner with HR on training, policy initiatives, and changes in employment laws and regulations.
- Support matters involving contingent workers, immigration, and other workforce issues as needed.
- Manage outside counsel on litigation and other specialized employment matters.
Qualifications
- J.D. and active bar membership.
- 5 years of labor and employment law experience.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws, including wage and hour, leave, discrimination, accommodation, and related workplace requirements.
- Experience counseling HR and business leaders on a wide range of employee matters.
- Experience supporting an hourly workforce.
- Strong judgment and the ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice.
- Comfortable operating independently while collaborating closely with legal, HR, and business teams.
- Ability to travel periodically to company locations, likely 1–2 times per month.
Preferred Experience
- In-house employment law experience.
- Employment litigation and/or pre-litigation experience.
- Experience supporting a manufacturing, industrial, or other operationally intensive business.
- Exposure to immigration laws.
