We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations for a large, fast-paced organization. This role serves as a key point of contact for payroll inquiries, process improvement initiatives, and system-based troubleshooting. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment, has strong customer service skills, and can take ownership of payroll-related issues from intake through resolution.
Key ResponsibilitiesCreate and manage payroll-related work orders, ensuring accurate documentation and data capture for audit and reporting purposes
Serve as a primary support resource for payroll inquiries, including phone and email support during high-volume periods
Investigate and resolve payroll issues by working directly with internal partners and field management
Process off-cycle checks and complete payroll corrections based on internal audits
Support and provide guidance on payroll systems and applications, including timekeeping and workforce management tools
Identify inefficiencies in existing payroll or operational processes and document current workflows
Recommend process improvements, assist with testing, documentation, and team training initiatives
Recognize trends or recurring issues and proactively escalate potential impacts to other teams or systems
Participate in cross-functional projects requiring coordination across multiple teams
Perform additional duties as assigned to support team objectives
Bachelor’s degree preferred
1 year of customer service experience in a call center or high-volume service environment
Experience supporting clients in a fast-paced, complex, and deadline-driven setting
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to analyze issues and recommend effective resolutions
Payroll processing experience preferred
Experience with enterprise payroll or HR systems (SAP or similar platforms preferred)
This role requires onsite presence in Charlotte, NC to start
Hybrid flexibility may be considered in the future based on performance and business needs
Contract assignment with potential for extension
Salary : $18 - $21
