About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on Assistant Controller to support a rapidly growing, multi-entity real estate organization with a portfolio of mobile home and senior communities across the Southeast. The company has experienced consistent, aggressive growth and continues to scale its asset base year over year.
This role is a key hire and will serve as the day-to-day leader of the accounting function, allowing the Controller to shift focus toward strategic initiatives, acquisitions, and executive-level responsibilities. There is a clear path for upward mobility as the organization continues to expand.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day accounting operations across multiple LLCs and properties
- Support month-end and year-end close, including reconciliations and review
- Provide hands-on leadership to the accounting team (accountant and AP specialist), with additional hires expected as growth continues
- Serve as the primary in-office accounting resource and escalation point
- Help refine and scale accounting processes to support rapid portfolio growth
- Assist with integration of newly acquired assets into existing accounting workflows
- Partner closely with the Controller to ensure operational execution and continuity
Requirements
- 3–5 years of accounting experience in a multi-entity environment
- Experience with property management accounting strongly preferred
- Prior experience managing or mentoring a small team
- Comfortable rolling up sleeves and staying close to the work when needed
- Leadership-minded but execution-focused
- Coachable, steady, and patient; ambitious without being title-driven
- Able to add value quickly with minimal ramp-up
Salary : $100,000 - $120,000
