General Laborer – Metal Manufacturing

Location: Wyoming, MI

Job Type: Full-Time

Shift: 1st, 2nd, or 3rd Shift Available

Pay: $17.00–$20.00 per hour, based on experience

General Laborer

We are looking for a dependable and hardworking General Laborer to join our metal manufacturing team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work and wants to gain experience in a manufacturing and metalworking environment.

The right candidate will assist with production, material handling, finishing, and general shop duties while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of general labor and production tasks in a metal manufacturing facility.
• Load, unload, move, and stage steel, aluminum, and other metal materials.
• Assist machine operators, welders, fabricators, and other production employees.
• Operate basic hand and power tools such as grinders, drills, saws, impacts, and sanders.
• Perform grinding, deburring, sanding, and finishing of metal components.
• Remove sharp edges, burrs, weld spatter, and excess material from finished parts.
• Assist with cutting, drilling, measuring, and preparing materials for production.
• Inspect parts and finished products for visible defects and quality issues.
• Use tape measures, squares, calipers, and other basic measuring tools.
• Package, label, and prepare completed products for shipment.
• Move materials and finished products using carts, pallet jacks, and other approved equipment.
• Assist with loading and unloading trucks as needed.
• Maintain accurate production counts and complete basic production paperwork.
• Keep workstations, tools, and production areas clean and organized.
• Follow work instructions, production schedules, and quality requirements.
• Follow all company safety procedures and wear required PPE.
• Report equipment problems, damaged materials, and safety concerns to supervisors.
• Perform repetitive lifting, bending, standing, and other physical tasks throughout the shift.

Qualifications

• Previous manufacturing, metalworking, construction, or warehouse experience preferred but not required.
• Experience using hand and power tools is a plus.
• Basic mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Ability to safely lift and move up to 50 pounds.
• Comfortable standing, walking, bending, reaching, and working on your feet for extended periods.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
