Position Summary
The Accounting and Budget Analyst will support the Digital Innovation and Technology department during the current fiscal year. The role focuses on budget development, forecasting, account reconciliation, and preparation of financial journals. The analyst will ensure accurate and timely financial reporting while working collaboratively with internal teams and adhering to university financial policies.

Total experience not exceeding 5 years as an Accounting and Budget Analyst
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
Hands-on experience with Oracle Financials or large enterprise financial systems
Strong Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, data validation)
Experience preparing financial journals, transfers, and accounting entries
Experience supporting budget development and forecasting
Experience performing account reconciliations, month-end, and year-end close
Strong communication skills; reliable, client-facing professionalism
Familiarity with fund accounting or financial environments in higher education, state, county, or federal organizations (preferred)
Key Responsibilities
Support budget development and forecasting by gathering data, performing analysis, and preparing budget schedules
Prepare and process financial journals, transfers, accruals, and other accounting entries accurately and on time
Reconcile accounts and support month-end and year-end financial close activities
Generate, review, and analyze financial reports to support leadership decision-making
Assist in preparing presentations, summaries, and financial documents for senior leadership
Ensure compliance with UC financial policies, procedures, and reporting standards
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support financial planning and operational needs
Maintain accurate records, documentation, and audit-ready financial files
Provide ad hoc analysis as requested to support departmental financial operations
Desired Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
1–2 years of relevant experience in accounting, budgeting, or financial analysis
Experience with Oracle Financials (strongly preferred)
Experience in higher-education or public-sector financial environments (preferred)
Strong analytical and quantitative skills
Excellent Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, data validation, lookups)
Strong attention to detail; ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong documentation and record-keeping abilities
Quick learner with the ability to navigate complex financial systems
