📍 Richmond, VA (Hybrid) | 💰 $200K Base 35% Bonus
🏢 Publicly Traded Financial Services Company
This is not a traditional FP&A role.
We’re partnering with a fast-growing, publicly traded financial services company that is looking for an FP&A Lead to help scale and optimize a highly visible finance function at a pivotal stage of growth.
The company has tripled in size over the last 15 months, has become one of the top-performing mortgage REITs since COVID, and is continuing to expand rapidly.
This role reports directly to the CFO and offers broad exposure across executive leadership, accounting, trading, portfolio management, and capital markets. You’ll play a critical role in helping leadership understand the company’s financial position, portfolio performance, market dynamics, and strategic outlook at any given time.
If you enjoy operating at the intersection of finance, strategy, forecasting, and capital markets — and want a seat at the table in a highly collaborative, low-ego environment — this could be an exceptional opportunity.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Own and enhance the company’s forecasting and financial modeling infrastructure
- Lead budgeting, planning, and variance analysis processes
- Build executive and board-level reporting tied to portfolio and company performance
- Partner cross-functionally with accounting, trading, and capital markets teams
- Conduct scenario analysis, sensitivities, and competitor/market analysis
- Help leadership make strategic decisions through actionable financial insights
- Optimize FP&A processes and contribute to building scalable infrastructure as the company grows
- Present findings and recommendations directly to executive leadership
What They’re Looking For
- 8–12 years of FP&A, strategic finance, capital markets, investment management, or related financial services experience
- Strong background within financial services environments such as REITs, hedge funds, banks, insurance, asset management, or fixed income markets
- Advanced Excel and complex financial modeling experience
- Strong understanding of forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and financial statements
- Ability to bridge accounting, portfolio, and trading perspectives into a cohesive financial narrative
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Strategic thinker with a highly collaborative and proactive mindset
Strong Pluses
- Fixed income, MBS, derivatives, or mortgage REIT exposure
- Bloomberg and/or BlackRock Aladdin experience
- MBA, CFA, or CPA
- Experience supporting executive or board-level reporting
- Experience helping build or optimize FP&A infrastructure in scaling organizations
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
- Direct mentorship and partnership with the CFO
- High visibility across the organization and executive leadership team
- Opportunity to shape and build the FP&A function as the company scales
- Collaborative, values-driven, “no jerks” culture
- Hybrid schedule with flexibility (Tues–Thurs in office)
- Exposure to both Richmond and New York capital markets operations
- Opportunity to make a real impact at a company in a major growth phase
📩 If you have a strong financial services background and are looking for a strategic, high-impact FP&A opportunity with long-term growth potential, we’d love to connect.
