What are the responsibilities and job description for the Equipment Operator position at Talent Corps?
Job Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Equipment Operator to support electrical construction projects throughout Maryland. This role involves operating heavy machinery for site preparation, trenching, and material handling in support of underground and utility electrical work. Ideal candidates are experienced on active construction sites and work well alongside electrical crews.
Location: sites may vary
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Duration: Permanent opportunity
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate equipment such as mini excavators, skid steers, backhoes, trenchers, and loaders
- Perform trenching and backfilling for underground conduit and utility installations
- Assist with grading, site prep, and material movement
- Work closely with electricians and foremen to support project completion
- Read and interpret site plans, markings, and utility locates
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance
- Follow OSHA safety standards and PPE requirements
- Maintain a clean and organized job site
- Support general labor tasks as needed
Qualifications:
- 2 years of heavy equipment operation experience
- Experience in utility or electrical construction preferred
- Ability to trench safely around existing utilities
- Basic understanding of blueprints and site layouts
- Valid driver’s license
- OSHA 10 certification preferred
- Strong focus on safety and attention to detail
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, and operate machinery for extended periods
