Position Overview
The Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting function and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can manage the details of accounting operations while also providing financial insight that helps drive sound business decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all core accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and month-end close.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support business planning and performance management.
- Oversee inventory accounting, job costing, and cost of goods sold within a manufacturing environment.
- Monitor cash flow, working capital, and banking relationships to support overall financial health.
- Partner with leadership on pricing, margin analysis, and profitability initiatives.
- Coordinate year-end audit support, tax filings, and communication with external accountants.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable financial regulations.
- Provide leadership with actionable financial insights and recommendations.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- 7 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within manufacturing.
- Prior Controller or Assistant Controller experience strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Experience with inventory management, job costing, and manufacturing KPIs.
- Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and handle confidential information with discretion.
- CPA or CMA is a plus, but not required.
