Classification: Learned Professional (Non-Exempt under FLSA)
Position Summary:
Talbot Health Services is seeking a committed and empathetic Counselor to join our clinical team in Toledo, Ohio. This position plays a vital role in providing trauma-informed, client-centered care to individuals navigating mental health and substance use challenges. As a Counselor at Talbot, you’ll be part of a collaborative care team dedicated to high standards of treatment, ethics, and support.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individual, group, and family counseling to assigned caseloads
Conduct clinical assessments, develop treatment plans, and document client progress
Incorporate trauma-informed care into therapeutic interventions
Collaborate with internal team members and external agencies for integrated service delivery
Maintain accurate, timely documentation and clinical records in compliance with agency and licensing standards
Complete all billing and treatment notes within 48 hours of service
Assist with client orientation, crisis response, referrals, and case consultations
Stay current with best practices through ongoing professional development and supervision
Meet productivity and service delivery targets
Required Qualifications:
Active Ohio licensure: LSW, LPC, LCDC II, or LCDC III
Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field
In good standing with the appropriate Ohio licensing board
Preferred Qualifications:
LISW, LPCC, or LICDC
Master’s degree in a behavioral health discipline
CPR/First Aid/AED certification
Training in crisis prevention and de-escalation techniques
Skills & Competencies:
Knowledge of behavioral health and addiction recovery frameworks
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Proficiency in electronic medical records and documentation systems
Team-focused with the ability to work independently
Ethical, dependable, and committed to confidentiality and compliance
Work Conditions:
Office and occasional community-based settings
Smoke-free and substance-free workplace
Ability to sit, use a computer, and lift up to 15 lbs as needed
