Sr Data Analyst
Overview
We are seeking a Part-Time Senior Data Analyst to join our team. This role involves applying advanced data analysis techniques to support fraud detection and operational improvements within the Postal Service. Education Requirements
Candidates should have a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or a related field. Advanced degrees in Statistics, Mathematics, or similar disciplines are preferred. Candidates with equivalent experience may also be considered.
Clearance Requirements
This role requires an ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and have resided in the U.S. for the past five years, with no travel outside the U.S. totaling six months or more in the last five years.
Work Arrangement
This is a on-site position. The selected individual needs to be local to the DC Metro area as the candidate may be asked to report to HQ in Arlington, VA, or to local postal facilities on occasion.
Responsibilities
- Apply expertise in data science tools, including SQL, Python, R, and Java Scripts, to develop models, dashboards, and reports.
- Use business intelligence applications and reporting technologies such as Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate.
- Leverage cloud services like AWS or Azure, including Databricks, Data Factory, and Data Lake, for data processing and analysis.
- Coordinate with staff and customers to identify business and technical requirements.
- Produce documentation and artifacts for all work completed, translating user requirements into technical designs.
- Assist in developing programming and visualization solutions for the agency.
- Troubleshoot and support existing projects and applications.
- Understand relational databases, data warehousing, data governance, and data quality concepts.
- Analyze Postal Service operations to identify potential fraud schemes, actors, and methods.
- Participate in site visits, interpret field observations, and perform related data analysis.
- Review, analyze, and modify existing products, including coding, debugging, and testing.
- Provide guidance to coworkers on data access, quality, storage, and analytic tools.
- Assist with training and conference development, including presentations to large audiences.
- Ensure adherence to quality and security guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- 7 years of experience applying analytic techniques to detect fraud in Postal Service operations.
- Extensive background in statistical analysis and advanced statistical methods.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as SQL, Python, R, and Java Scripts.
- Experience with business intelligence tools, including Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate.
- Knowledge of AWS or Azure services, including Databricks, Data Factory, and Data Lake.
- Strong relational database and querying language skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
- Experience analyzing operations to identify fraud schemes and methods.
- Proven ability to create datasets, visualizations, and interactive reports.
