Overview
This role supports the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) program by providing expertise in Cerner solutions and supporting workflow analysis, testing, and implementation activities related to patient accounting. The position involves knowledge transfer, risk identification, troubleshooting, and collaboration with VA and Oracle Health teams to facilitate successful EHR system upgrades and integrations.
Education & Certification Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in Healthcare IT, computer science, electronics engineering, engineering, or a related technical field, plus five years of relevant experience is required. 15 total years of relevant experience can be substituted in liue of degree requirements.
Clearance Requirements
The ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance is required for this opportunity.
Onsite Requirements
This position will be performed remotely and will support Eastern Time working hours.
Responsibilities
- Support VA EHRM activities by providing Cerner expertise and conducting knowledge transfer sessions.
- Assist in translating Cerner capabilities to VA stakeholders and bring solution knowledge up to speed.
- Review and help manage task orders and deliverables to ensure timely and accurate completion.
- Assist in current and future state workflow analysis, diagrams, and risk identification.
- Support management, escalation, and resolution of trouble tickets and change requests.
- Contribute to reporting requirements, testing scripts, and event support during the EHR implementation.
- Collaborate with Oracle Health and VA teams on build, design, and workflow modifications.
- Review training materials and aid in cutover and go-live planning.
- Develop and review work plans; provide subject matter expertise on patient accounting systems.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of professional work experience in healthcare or clinical software development or implementation.
- Proven ability to independently design and develop software or enhancements in healthcare settings.
- Expertise in systems integration, healthcare semantics, informatics, and multi-platform environments.
- Experience working on project completion and feasibility analysis for future projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant technical or healthcare field; experience may substitute education.
Desired Skills
- Hands-on experience with VA systems and Millennium code levels 2018 or higher.
- Knowledge of Cerner Model recommendations and patient accounting configurations.
- Strong experience in workflow analysis, validation, and end-user testing for EHR systems.
- Ability to identify and mitigate system risks effectively.
- Familiarity with ServiceNow reporting and ticket management for stakeholder coordination.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills with multiple stakeholder groups.
