We currently have an opportunity for a Lab Technician – Flavor Creation position located in Rockleigh, NJ. In this role, the incumbent will assist the Flavor Chemist in the creation of novel and innovative flavors and flavor technologies to meet the performance, quality and cost objectives of project briefs from customers.
Essential Job Functions include:
- Compound the flavors created by the Flavor Chemist.
- Prepare raw material and finished flavor samples.
- Conduct routine physical tests to develop/confirm flavor specifications.
- Maintain the appropriate records relating to these activities.
- Perform general laboratory household duties.
- Follow and adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
- Participate in Sensory evaluation of products.
- Other duties assigned and needed.
Qualifications include:
- Minimum of an Associate Degree in Chemistry, B.S. in any of the Sciences preferred (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biology, Food Science)
- Experience in a technical position in the flavor or food industry, preferred.
- Must be computer literate and familiar with basic laboratory equipment.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Ability to operate standard office and laboratory equipment. Role includes handling hazardous chemicals and requires use of appropriate PPE (e.g., gloves, eye protection, lab coat). Work involves a mix of sedentary and moderately active tasks, including standing, walking, and reaching for extended periods. The work environment has moderate noise levels.
