Software Engineer IV – Data Collection and Engineering

Location: Fully Onsite at Redmond, WA

Duration: 12-months with possible extension

Pay Rate: $95/hr on W2

Job Overview

Our client is building the future of virtual and augmented reality technologies that will become as universal and indispensable as today’s smartphones and personal computers. Within this organization, the Audio team is focused on redefining human hearing and enabling people to communicate clearly even in the most challenging listening environments.

We are seeking a Software Engineer IV – Data Collection & Engineering to support and expand the software ecosystem powering their advanced data collection lab in Redmond, WA. This role is critical to ensuring that our data acquisition workflows remain efficient, accurate, scalable, and highly reliable while integrating cutting-edge prototype devices into research platforms.

This is a highly collaborative, hands-on engineering role working alongside audio/video engineers, recording technicians, software developers, and interdisciplinary researchers across global teams.

The ideal candidate is a strong Python-focused full stack engineer with solid Linux systems expertise, experience designing RESTful distributed systems, and the ability to troubleshoot software and infrastructure issues onsite.

You will develop software solutions that interface with prototype hardware devices, improve data collection pipelines, monitor platform health, and enhance tooling for validation and processing workflows.

This role requires someone comfortable working at the intersection of software engineering, systems engineering, and hardware-integrated research environments.


Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain software systems that integrate with prototype hardware devices and multimedia sensors
  • Build scalable tools and services that improve the efficiency, reliability, and accuracy of data collection workflows
  • Develop and enhance full stack applications and internal tools supporting research operations
  • Build and maintain RESTful APIs and distributed systems architectures
  • Deploy, test, validate, and evaluate upgrades to the data collection platform
  • Develop tooling for data validation, processing, and quality assurance
  • Build systems for monitoring application and infrastructure health
  • Support Linux-based systems administration, shell scripting, and network troubleshooting
  • Perform onsite debugging, root cause analysis, and issue resolution
  • Collaborate with engineers and researchers to triage, estimate, and prioritize work
  • Promote engineering best practices, code quality standards, and maintainable software design
  • Support CI/CD pipelines using GitHub or GitLab workflows


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 6 years of professional software engineering experience
  • Experience with Python development in large-scale production codebases
  • Experience in full stack software development
  • Experience with Linux systems administration and shell scripting
  • Experience building and maintaining RESTful distributed systems and architectures
  • Experience maintaining and improving networked systems
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, including GitHub or GitLab
  • Experience debugging complex software and infrastructure issues in production environments


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with FastAPI, React, or similar frontend frameworks
  • Experience working with hardware multimedia sensors
  • Knowledge of audio, image, and video formats
  • Experience with Android development
  • Experience with relational, graph, or NoSQL databases
  • Experience with software and hardware testing frameworks and strategies
  • Working knowledge of time synchronization systems
  • Experience with Windows systems administration
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies
