SPED Teacher

Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for students with diverse learning needs. This role involves collaborating with educators, parents, and support staff to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) that promote academic and social success for students with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student.
• Assess and monitor student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed to ensure academic growth.
• Create and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and other professionals to support students' educational goals.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and strategies for support at home.
• Provide direct instruction in academic subjects, social skills, and life skills to students with varying disabilities.
• Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
• Maintain accurate records of student performance, behavior, and IEP documentation.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education.
• Advocate for students' needs and rights within the school and broader community.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Valid state certification or licensure in Special Education.
• Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting.
• Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators and support staff.
• Proficient in using technology and educational software to enhance student learning.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with students with special needs.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous improvement in teaching practices.
