Rate of Pay: $97.97/hour DOE (Base pay of $87.09 includes 12.5% per diem premium)
Summary
The Orthopedic Physician Assistant is responsible for assisting with the global management of clinical
and surgical patients. Including pre-, intra-and post-operative care. Orthopedic PAs perform patient
histories, help with treatment plans, serve as first assistant in surgery and handle office-related duties.

Certificate of completion from college or vocational school Completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant.
2-3 years relevant experience
Required Licenses/Certifications
California Physician Assistant (PA) - Upon hire
BLS: Employee will be enrolled in the Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) Basic Life Support (BLS) Entry or Prep Curriculum (depending on their previous BLS certification). - Within 3 months of hire into job
Collaborative Agreement (CA) or evidence of Supervising Physician Agreement (NV State Medical Board), as applicable, with a designated supervising physician member
of the Hospital’s medical staff - Upon hire

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Performs comprehensive and problem-focused histories and physical examinations.
- Interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests.
- Interprets and correlates subjective and objective data to formulate a differential diagnosis and establish a working diagnosis.
- Formulates a treatment plan for orthopedic conditions within their scope of practice.
- Implements therapeutic intervention for specific conditions when appropriate.
- Exercises judgment on conditions requiring consultation, referral or evaluation by the supervising orthopedic surgeon or other health care professionals.
- Orders, collects and performs appropriate laboratory and diagnostic studies, such as routine laboratory tests, EMG, electrocardiogram and radiologic examinations including arthrogram, ultrasound, CT, MRI and bone scan studies.
- Performs compartment pressure measurements, digital blocks and regional anesthesia.
- Performs minor outpatient surgical procedures such as tendon repair, wound closure and management, incision and drainage, needle biopsy percutaneous pinning of fractures k-wire and hardware removal.
- Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as aspirations and injections of joints, bursas and cysts.
- Performs closed reductions of fractures and dislocations.
- Applies braces, casts, splints and other orthopedic applications.
- Assists in the surgical suite including first assist, deep and superficial wound closure, application of internal devices and any other procedures delegated by the supervising orthopedic surgeon.
- Conducts hospital rounds, writes orders, takes call and sees patients in the ED for the orthopedic surgeon
- Evaluates and clarifies clinical conditions
- Formulates and implements treatment and therapeutic plans for hospitalized

Other Experience/Qualifications
Required:
- Ability to participate in a federally funded program (Medicare and Medicaid) upon hire.
- Physician Assistants must complete an educational course in controlled substances that meets the standards of practice by TFHD and the State of California within 6 months of hire into job.
