Job Overview – Youth Development Specialist
Compensation: $50,000 – $55,000/year Benefits
Location: Bronx, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (In-Office)
TAG MedStaffing is hiring a Youth Development Specialist in Bronx, NY for our client. This role provides individualized coaching, mentorship, and case management services to young adults as they work toward educational, career, housing, and independent living goals. The Youth Development Specialist partners with clients, families, community organizations, and internal teams to connect individuals with supportive resources, develop personalized success plans, and promote long-term personal and professional growth. The ideal candidate is passionate about youth development, relationship building, and empowering young adults through a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach.
Responsibilities as the Youth Development Specialist:
- Youth Coaching & Case Support: Build trusting relationships with assigned young adults by providing ongoing one-on-one coaching, goal setting, social and emotional support, and advocacy.
- Education & Career Development: Support participants with educational planning, school engagement, post-secondary preparation, career exploration, workforce development opportunities, and employment readiness.
- Housing & Independent Living: Assist young adults with housing planning, independent living skills, budgeting, financial literacy, and connecting to housing and community resources.
- Care Coordination: Collaborate with case managers, educators, specialists, caregivers, and community partners to coordinate services and promote positive outcomes for participants.
- Group Facilitation & Outreach: Plan and facilitate workshops, peer groups, and life skills programming while encouraging participant engagement and personal growth.
- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate case documentation, complete required progress notes, monitor participant progress, and ensure compliance with program and organizational standards.
Qualifications for the Youth Development Specialist:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Education, or a related field is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience working with at-risk youth, adolescents, young adults, or individuals involved in child welfare, foster care, or community-based programs is required.
- Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of youth development, trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, educational systems, workforce development, independent living resources, and New York City social services is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, is required. Experience with electronic case management systems is preferred.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong relationship-building, communication, organizational, and advocacy skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively, facilitate groups, manage multiple priorities, navigate complex situations, and provide compassionate, strengths-based support to young adults. Bilingual English and Spanish is preferred.
