Job Overview
The production supervisor is responsible managing all work center processes by communicating company goals, safety practices, and deadlines to the work center while completing their direct and indirect tactical duties. This position is a working supervisor position and expected to participate in working to relieve bottlenecks in the process when necessary. The Production Supervisor will be expected to motivate team members and assess the team’s performance while reporting critical performance issues and support needs to the dept. supervisor. The production Supervisor is expected to foster a positive and productive environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean and organized work area by leading and implementing continuous improvement and 5S across their assigned areas which includes training and educating their operators on Continuous Improvement and 5S.
- Safe operation and use of tools, cranes, lifting devices, welding equipment, and heavy machinery.
- Ensure the reporting of all accidents, unsafe actions, and unsafe conditions in an accurate and timely manner according to the established policies and procedures.
- Responsible for making decisions and taking action to improve work area and meet communicated goals and objectives.
- Responsible for execution of planned production output and communicates barriers and deficiencies to dept. production manager and/or plant manager.
- Responsible for the direct supervision and support of subordinates including timekeeping, disciplinary, and skills development.
- Hold all team members accountable to comply with the expected standards of conducts by teaching, coaching, facilitating a productive work group.
- Establishes and communicates direction and expectations to direct reports.
- Responsible for ensuring the proper use of supplies are provided within work area and monitoring for excess use of supplies and consumables.
- Must maintain quality expectations and ensure processes that support good quality are being followed.
- Resolve conflicts and properly manage relationships within the assigned work group to prevent miscommunications between any stakeholders in the organization.
- Responsible for cross training within the department.
- Interact directly with other departments including but not limited to materials, scheduling, quality, human resources, etc.
- Proactively participate with opportunities of continuous improvement and process development.
- Act ethically and professionally at all times.
- Fulfill all other duties assigned by the dept. supervisor.
Qualifications / Requirements

REQUIRED
- Previous education and training in leadership principles.
- 3-5 Years Leadership Experience heavy manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of and experience in industrial processes such as fabrication, welding, painting, etc.
- Proven ability to lead teams towards operational objectives.
- High emotional maturity and ability to lead teams in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and understand measurements and tolerances using tape measures and micrometers.
- Ability to use ladders, lifts, cranes, hand/power tools, and painting equipment.
- Ability to work safely and maintain PPE standards at all times and to identify potential hazards.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment, sharing knowledge to assist with improving the skillsets of co-workers.
- Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with all levels of the organization.
- Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong ethical standards, reliability, professionalism, positive attitude, and ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
PREFERRED
- Accredited leadership certifications in lieu of experience.
- Bachelors Degree applicable to manufacturing leadership position lieu of experience.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow blueprints, manuals, schematics, templates, and instructions.
- Experience in the heavy equipment industry, specifically attachments.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, climb, sit, crouch, and kneel for moderate to extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
- Must be able to work in an environment that is heavily affected by seasonal temperature changes
