Rhubarb Mascot Performer and Handler
The Tacoma Rainiers are looking for an outgoing, energetic individual who works well with others and can engage with fans of all ages. The ideal candidate is creative, team oriented, and passionate about creating memorable experiences for fans.
The Rhubarb mascot performer and handler must be physically capable of wearing a heavy costume, working in high temperatures, and standing, walking, running, or dancing for extended periods. The performer should also be able to read social cues and adjust interactions based on each fan’s comfort level.
Responsibilities
- Represent the Tacoma Rainiers as Rhubarb at home games and a wide range of events throughout the Puget Sound area
- Meet and greet fans before, during, and after games and events
- Perform as Rhubarb in a fun, energetic, and respectful manner consistent with Tacoma Rainiers standards
- Help create memorable and engaging experiences for fans of all ages
- Drive and/or perform as Rhubarb for appearances at various locations throughout the Puget Sound area during the season and offseason
- Take direction from the Director of Game Entertainment and collaborate with the entertainment team
- Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and overall wellbeing of the Rhubarb costume and equipment
Qualifications
- Available for mascot appearances throughout the season and offseason
- Able to lift and move up to 50 pounds
- Comfortable working flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and occasional offsite events
- Reliable and punctual
- Able to take direction and work effectively as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Physically capable of performing in a heavy mascot costume for extended periods
- A positive, “ready to help” attitude
- Performance, dance, or acting experience is a plus, but not required
- Previous mascot experience is a plus, but not required
