Dispatcher for Non-Emergency Medical Transpotation: Part-Time, non-exempt position
General Statement of Duties
Dispatchers are responsible for ensuring efficient reliable and safe transportation services for communicating with patients and healthcare providers. Dispatches and schedules passengers trips. The employee in this class is responsible for typing, answering telephones, setting up and maintaining files, and other related duties necessary to ensure efficient operation of the system. Responsibilities include applying the appropriate guidelines and regulations used in a variety of tasks. Work in this position is under the supervision of the Operations Manger.
Description of work/Distinguishing Features of this Position
An employee in this class is responsible for answering the phones, dispatching drivers, and taking appointments. Function as the primary point of contact for the drivers. Confirm appointments, provide updates, and notify all parties of change promptly. Manage inquiries or concerns professionally ensuring a positive experience for all.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of computer programs, general office filling, practices and procedures.
- Ability to keyboard and perm data unput duties.
- Ability to compile information requiring the selection of data from sources.
- General understanding of administration and procedural techniques for managing government funded programs.
- Ability to screen calls and route to proper staff.
- Ability to answer telephones in a courteous effective manner, dealing with consumers, family members, and the public.
- Ability to communicate with two-way radio in a courteous and effective manner.
- Ability to use proper judgement while dealing with the public or knowing when to pass on situations to supervisory staff.
- Ability to conduct additional tasks assigned.
- Resolve scheduling conflicts, delays, or last-minute changes efficiently using transportation software.
- Address complaints related to drivers behavior, service quality, or billing disputes with professionalism and urgency.
Minimum Education and Experience Qualifications
Graduate from High School or equivalent.
Experience/training with computer programs preferably two years of business courses or equivalent combination of experience and education. Experience with government funded programs and with Trip master software preferred.
Special Qualification Requirements
Must have a valid NC Driver's License with no moving violation within the past three years. General knowledge of city, county streets and roads. Must pass a pre-employment alchol and drug test per TACC substance abuse policy.
