What are the responsibilities and job description for the Event Specialist position at Tabletop Gaming Center?
Position: Events Team Member
Role Overview: Events Team Members run tournaments and non-competitive events at the store for customers, in addition to normal retail responsibilities. Team Members use a variety of different tournament softwares and are responsible for managing events ranging anywhere from 4 to 100 participants while providing a quality customer service experience.
Core Responsibilities:
- Facilitating player check-in before events, often for multiple customers simultaneously.
- Starting and ending tournaments in various softwares.
- Handling multiple game/round timers simultaneously, while clearly communicating the start and end of rounds to players.
- Distributing prizes to players, both in the form of promotional product and store credit.
- Assisting other Tournament Officials with events, including component-checking players’ materials, covering breaks, assisting with player questions, in addition to the responsibilities listed above.
- Operating a register and providing a quality customer service experience.
- Submitting requests for products on behalf of customers to our Backroom Team.
- Restocking customer-facing products when necessary, and cleaning/dusting workspaces and shelves. Assisting with general store cleanliness and upkeep.
- Assisting with the opening and/or closing procedures of the store, including cleaning, putting up/taking down chairs, vacuuming, restocking snacks and beverages, etc.
- Checking in/out board games from the store library for customers and preserving the system of organization used for both the library itself, and each game’s components.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Skills Needed:
- Ability to lift and carry boxes weighing up to 40 lbs short distances.
- Ability to make yourself heard over 100 people.
- Computer competency.
- Time Management.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills.
Schedule/Required Availability: Events Team shifts are primarily scheduled on weeknights and all hours of the business day on weekends. There are opportunities to pick up shifts, including outside of this range. Team members will receive ~20hrs/week to start.
- MUST be available to work at least one weekend day for a minimum of 6 hours. Availability on both weekend days are preferred.
- Must be available to work at least two weeknights for a minimum of 12 hours between both.
