Position Overview
Tabletop Gaming Center is a community focused game store. We focus on providing excellent customer service whether a customer is in store to shop or if they are participants in a store run event.
Card Specialists are responsible for cataloging the store's extensive inventory of playing cards for various games. Card Specialists identify specific cards by game, name, and condition as well as organizing and storing them, following the store's standard cataloging procedures. They must maintain the digital inventory for accuracy and use it to complete customer orders in a timely fashion.
Key Responsibilities
All employees of the store are responsible for the following:
- Collaborate with the store team to create a welcoming environment and encourage repeat attendance at events.
- Working with cash registers and processing payments
- Giving customers advice about sales and promotions
Card Specialists will additionally be responsible for:
- Interacting with the card inventory system to ensure accurate digital records of all transactions
- Inspecting cards for damage and assigning a condition dictated by TCGPlayer standards.
- Catalog cards into the physical inventory system following store procedures
- Fulfill customer orders by gathering the correct cards from inventory and notifying customers that their order is finished.
- Process card-buys, when customers come in to sell cards, in a timely fashion.
Qualifications:
- A strong interest and knowledge of various tabletop games, card games, and gaming culture.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with customers of all ages.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate the store's schedule.
- Previous experience in customer service and/or card sorting is preferred, but not required.
Work Environment: All employees of Tabletop Gaming Center work in a customer-facing environment, often during peak hours such as evenings and weekends. The role involves physical tasks, such as setting up and cleaning up event areas, and requires the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
