Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented PRN Sterile Processing Technician to join our healthcare team. The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for cleaning, sterilizing, inspecting, assembling, and distributing medical instruments and equipment used in patient care. This role plays a critical part in maintaining patient safety and supporting surgical and clinical staff.
Responsibilities
Decontaminate, clean, inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment
Operate sterilization equipment according to established procedures and safety standards
Monitor and document sterilization processes and biological testing results
Prepare instrument trays and supplies for surgical procedures
Maintain inventory levels of sterile supplies and equipment
Ensure compliance with infection control policies, safety regulations, and department standards
Identify damaged or malfunctioning instruments and report concerns appropriately
Collaborate with surgical staff and other departments to support daily operations
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Sterile Processing certification preferred or required based on facility guidelines
Previous sterile processing or healthcare experience preferred
Knowledge of sterilization procedures, infection control, and medical terminology
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods
Frequent lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling
Ability to lift to 2550 pounds as needed
